Tough Ladies and Troublemakers
This collection includes the interviews used as research for Dr. Elise Chenier's 1995 MA thesis from Queen's University Tough ladies and troublemakers: Toronto's public lesbian community, 1955-1965. The project explored butch and fem lesbian bar culture in post-World War Two Toronto. The collection also includes related interviews conducted after the publication of Dr. Chenier's thesis. Publications and works related to these interviews include:

- Chenier, Elise. "Rethinking class in lesbian bar culture: living 'The Gay Life' in Toronto, 1955-1965." Left History, 9 (2), (2004): 85-118. This was also reprinted in Rethinking Canada: the Promise of Women's History, Fifth edition (Oxford University Press, 5th edition).
- Midnight at the Continental (2015), a short film using "shadow puppets, overhead projector animation and archival images," was based on Dr. Chenier's research and "Rethinking class" article.
