I interviewed Mary-Woo Sims as the participator of my final research study about lesbians in the women’s movement. Mary-Woo Sims was the former Chief Commissioner of the British Columbia Human Rights Commission, also a social justice activist and a feminist. We started the interview with her life and education background. She was born in Hong Kong, and moved to Vancouver when she was fourteen. Mary spent most of her adult life in Vancouver and some time in Eastern Canada. I asked Mary, what has stimulated her to participate in women’s movement, and her intention was simple, is to speak up and fight for women’s rights.
